Lemon essential oil – its unique applications!
Lemon essential oil has a special place among the essential oils as it offers a wide range of applications for both therapeutic and cosmetic use, but it is not limited only there!
Among citrus essential oils, lemon essential oil is the most popular due to its many applications and strong antioxidant activity. Since ancient times it has been used for therapeutic purposes, being a favorite oil in Ayurvedic medicine, with therapeutic uses that have now been scientifically confirmed. But let’s see in more detail what it can offer us:
For your own cosmetics
Ideal face cleanser. Lemon essential oil improves the texture of the skin, regulates oiliness and treats acne! Make a spray with rose water and lemon essential oil and spray before bed or night cream. It tones the skin and treats the dilated pores that torment oily skin. Remember that ideal flower water for oily or acne prone skin is cistus and witch hazel, while the essential oil of lemon can be added up to 12 drops per 100ml of water or oil base.
Brightens and rejuvenates the skin. It is ideal for dull and tired skin, while offering deep cleansing allowing faster cell renewal. At the same time, studies show that lemon essential oil prevents tissue damage due to its strong antioxidant activity.
Fights cellulite. Like grapefruit essential oil, lemon essential oil fights cellulite by activating the metabolism and fighting fluid retention! Ideally, you can use it in massage oils for topical use.

Improves digestion. Lemon essential oil contributes significantly to the treatment of digestive problems including gastritis and dysentery. For visible results, it is ideal to use in an aromatherapy device but also massages in the abdomen with essential oil of lemon in oil base. Another use is to add and consume 1 drop or 2 in a glass of water, 2 times a day. Of course this presupposes that you have a very high quality and pure lemon essential oil!

It works as a bleach so you can soak your whites in a bowl of lemon essential oil while breaking down stubborn stains. You can easily and quickly make your own laundry detergent, without chemicals! Try your own washing powder with a mixture of 250g borax, 250g washing soda 180g white grated soap (so that the clothes do not get tanned) and 30 drops of lemon essential oil!
Add to dish detergent. Of course, its disinfectant action plays an important role, while we must not forget that it is the natural way to clean your dishes without chemicals! Try a combination of lemon essential oil with orange and tea tree.
General house cleaner. For those who can not stand the smell of vinegar as a natural disinfectant, then the solution is the wonderful aroma of lemon! It is antiseptic, antifungal and disinfectant with an aroma of freshness and cleanliness. Dissolve in half a liter of water 2 tablespoons of grated white soap and add 15 – 20 drops of lemon essential oil! You can make a very nice spray for cleaning benches, cutting surfaces, bathroom tiles, with water, a little vinegar and 30 drops of lemon essential oil.
Remove glue, resin, and even grease. Yes you can do all of the above with a few drops of lemon essential oil. With essential oil on a cotton ball, you can remove sticky substances from carpet or hair, label glue from bottles, grease from surfaces and clothes and of course resin.

You can simply drip 10 drops of lemon essential oil onto a cotton ball and apply it to your wooden surfaces, silverware and even stainless steel surfaces. It disinfects, deeply cleanses, gives a wonderful scent and polishes your items naturally. Another recipe is in 100ml almond oil, 15 drops of lemon essential oil.
Natural insect repellent. Protect your home and your flowers from insects! Make a spray with lemon essential oil and eucalyptus to protect against insects, mosquitoes and even meligra from your flowers.
Natural deodorant for space, shoes and clothes. Making a homemade spray with lemon essential oil, you disinfect the atmosphere and the clothes, while at the same time you perfume and freshen them! Lemon essential oil does not just aromatize, but neutralizes odors. You can also perfume your curtains with the spray. Try 25-30 drops of lemon essential oil in 200ml of water!
Extra tips: Clean and disinfect your toothbrush with 2 drops of lemon. Keep your refrigerator free of odors by placing a cotton ball with a few drops of lemon essential oil.

Special precautions: as mentioned above, lemon essential oil is photosensitive and you should not be exposed to the sun for at least 10 hours after use. As with all essential oils and herbs, to be sure there is no allergy, it is best to try it on a small area of your skin first. Essential oil is never used as is, either internally or externally. Prefer an oil base such as almond oil, coconut oil, jojoba etc.
