Calendula, is an annual flower, one of the herbs with many useful properties for the human body. The most important are the antiseptic and anti-inflammatory actions and astringent, sedative and emollient properties that characterize it.

As a natural anti-inflammatory and antiseptic, and in combination with the mild healing action, marigold is ideal for use in wounds and burns. Furthermore, due to the softening action, calendula combats redness and irritation, rashes and eczema. Having several dermal applications, calendula may be used with efficacy in treating skin problems, such as bruising and swelling, chapped skin, dry skin and indurations, herpes, fungi, chilblains, phlebitis and varicose veins, hemorrhoids, and provides relief to swollen legs.

The tea of calendula, stimulates the body offering wellness, while, as a natural tranquilizer combats nervous anxiety and mild depression and melancholy.

In relation with the digestive system, calendula flowers are beneficial for treating ulcers and gastrointestinal infections, and facilitates the digestion process in cases of slow digestion. In a large amount calendula is laxative, but in normal amounts faces dysentery and diarrhea. The infusion is useful in chronic infections and inflammations, especially of the esophagus, while the consumption of calendula also helps in a better absorption of nutrients.
Marigold, is suitable for the activation of the liver, and stimulates the production of bile. Can be used to treat gout, while strengthens the heart and improves blood circulation.

Herb beneficial for womanhood, calendula is ideal for troubleshooting menstruation, regulates period and relieves symptoms of menopause. The infusate may be used for treating vaginal mycosis.

Extra individual properties of calendula is the use for treating mouth ulcers, and diseases related to the gums as gingivitis and periodontitis and its mild sweating action.

The use of calendula has no side effects. But we must not, as with all herbs, make excessive use. The consumption should be with caution during pregnancy and lactation and should not be consumed by people allergic to calendula.
