Fenugreek, Trigonella Foenum Graecum

Fenugreek is one of the Greek herbs that you will find under many names. It is considered one of the herbs that provide the human body with a multitude of therapeutic and nutritional properties, while it has minimal restrictions on use.

Starting from the respiratory system, fenugreek is particularly beneficial, as it is a natural tonic, while it has expectorant properties and fights both productive cough and dry cough as an emollient for the respiratory tract. The use of fenugreek to treat bronchitis is particularly beneficial.

The use of fenugreek is beneficial for the female body with many applications for the treatment of diseases of the uterus. The use of fenugreek in vaginal washes stimulates the uterus. Infusion consumption treats problems associated with menopause and relieves menstrual cramps. It is considered a strong lactogen, during breastfeeding, while it stimulates the uterus, thus treating amenorrhea.

The seeds are considered highly aphrodisiac and are known to enhance breast growth. It is a natural tonic for the body, ideal for pregnant women, but its use requires attention in very small quantities as it is also a uterine stimulant. It is considered to cure male impotence.

In relation to the digestive system, fenugreek, treats stomach disorders, inflammation of the intestines and stimulates digestive function. It has an emollient effect in cases of stomach pain, colic and indigestion, while at the same time, it opens the appetite, making it ideal in cases of anorexia.

The external use of this herb, treats locally purulent wounds, abrasions and inflammations, as it is a natural antiseptic, and can be used effectively in abscesses and burns.

Fenugreek is particularly tonic both physically and mentally, as it works as a sedative, stimulates the overworked body and treats mental and physical weakness. Consumption of seeds in a decoction, increases red blood cells and treats anemia. It is believed to lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels, as a natural hypoglycemic. Use has been reported in cases of lymph node inflammation.

Fenugreek should not be used by people with diabetes without medical supervision, which is also true during pregnancy.
