Linden – Tilia

Linden, is one of the herbs that we will find under many Latin names, but with the same or similar beneficial properties. Particularly well known are the varieties, Tilia cordata, Tilia parvifolia and Tilia platyphyllos.

The main use of linden is the consumption of the infusion from its flowers. It is especially beneficial for the nervous system, as it is soothing, calms and fights stress. Linden can be used to relax the nervous system in baths too, both for adults and for babies and children with anxiety, irritability and insomnia.

Linden is also suitable for babies and children with difficulty sleeping and hyperactivity, as it can be added to evening milk along with a little honey( for children over 12 months old), with very good soothing results. The same drink can be used during periods when babies are teething as it is a mild but effective painkiller.

People suffering from nervous migraines, neuralgia and dizziness, can use this herb without fear, while it has very good results in cases of panic, hypertension, palpitations and irritability.

In addition to the psychological sphere, in which it has many applications, linden is ideal for treating flu and common cold. It is diaphoretic, so very good antipyretic, antitussive and expectorant. It can be consumed both for dry cough, as it is a natural emollient, and for productive cough due to its expectorant action. Linden infusion is used to treat sinusitis, bronchitis, nasal congestion and runny nose. So before you turn to traditional medicine for a simple cold, try to consume linden.

As a natural analgesic and anti-inflammatory, it can be used to treat headaches and toothaches, up to arthritic pains, and rheumatism. In external use, the anti-inflammatory and analgesic action of linden finds application in burns, abrasions, skin inflammations, while helping to heal faster.

We must mention the particularly beneficial effect of linden on the cardiovascular system! It is ideal for treating high blood pressure and beneficial for maintaining arterial health, healing and protecting vascular walls. At the same time it relaxes the blood vessels and acts against hypertension.

Individual properties and uses of linden are its consumption to treat indigestion and its diuretic action. Of course there are herbs more effective for these specific needs!

Linden does not show any symptoms or contraindications when consuming, but there should always be moderation in consumption, while during pregnancy it is always good to consult our personal doctor.
