Common Agrimony- Agrimonia Eupatoria

The agrimony, is one of the many native herbs of the Mediterranean countryside. From the Greek name we understand that among its many healing properties, agrimony is famous for its effectiveness in diseases of the upper respiratory system and throat.

The significant therapeutic effect of agrimony is offered especially for inflammations of the respiratory system, throat and mouth. More specifically, agrimony relieves and treats tonsillitis, chronic bronchitis, asthma, pharyngitis, laryngitis and of course works as a very good natural expectorant and antitussive.

Another important feature of agrimonium is its action to reduce uric acid in the body. It reduces inflammation in the body and acts as an inhibitor of edema and pain from rheumatism and arthritis.

In relation to the digestive system, agrimony is beneficial for specific purposes, such as indigestion and diarrhea. Due to its strong astringent action, it immediately stops diarrhea, but for this very reason it should be avoided by people suffering from constipation. The diuretic effect of agrimony helps to treat urinary tract infections, but also other important functions of the body, such as detoxification through urination and bile secretion.

Beneficial for the female body, agrimony helps significantly in the reduction of period pains, excessive bleeding and fluid retention before and during menstruation.

You can use the poultice and compresses with the decoction of agrimonium externally, to relieve swelling, fractures, tissue injuries and bruises, disinfection and rapid healing of ulcers, eczema, rashes and irritations. It is considered useful for the treatment of fungal infections, insect bites and as a hemostatic due to its astringent action.

Finally, individual properties of agrimonium are the treatment of migraine and its important action for protection against liver and spleen diseases. You can consume it to treat colic of the digestive system.

Reasonable use of agrimony does not cause side effects or allergies at any age. It should be avoided by people suffering from constipation due to its astringent action. Always consult your personal doctor before the therapeutic use of an herb.
